How DTH Drilling Works

1. Hammer Mechanism:

- A pneumatic or hydraulic DTH hammer is attached to the drill string.

- Compressed air (or fluid) powers the hammer, which rapidly strikes the drill bit.

2. Drill Bit Action:

- The hammer’s impact energy is transmitted directly to the drill bit at the bottom of the hole.

- The bit crushes the rock while rotating, ensuring efficient penetration.

3. Cuttings Removal:

- Compressed air blows the rock cuttings (flushing) up the annular space between the drill rod and the hole wall.
